The Barakaldo Hospital hosted the III Open Day for Sarcoma, an event that gathered patients, family members, primary care professionals, and staff involved in the treatment of this condition. Under the slogan "Before, during, and after. From diagnosis to regaining life," the meeting provided a space for information, dialogue, and shared learning.
The conference covered the different stages of the disease, from the appearance of the first symptoms and the diagnostic process to post-treatment follow-up. Professionals from Radiodiagnosis, Pathological Anatomy, Medical Oncology, and Occupational Medicine offered a multidisciplinary perspective, also addressing issues such as returning to work and shared follow-up with primary care.
The voices of individuals with sarcoma and patient associations also played a significant role. The event allowed attendees to learn from a patient's experience and highlighted the work of associations as a vital resource for information, support, and accompaniment for patients and their families, extending beyond treatment.
The question-and-answer sessions and dialogue forums facilitated direct exchange among patients, families, associations, and professionals, reinforcing one of the meeting's core objectives: sharing experiences and advancing together in the care and support of individuals affected by sarcoma.
