Young musician Joseba Korta Pacheco from Hernani has been awarded first prize at the Villa de Bilbao Piano Competition, an achievement that includes future concerts and a scholarship.

Korta competed in Category H and emerged as the overall winner. This success will enable him to perform two concerts, one in Bilbao and another in Madrid, in the near future, in addition to the financial award.
It is worth noting that Joseba Korta previously excelled in the Igartza competition and still has a concert to perform as part of that achievement, scheduled for July 4th at the Igartza Palace in Beasain.
This year's (2026) Villa de Bilbao Music Competition is part of the '2M-Mathematics and Music' program, directed by Luca Fanelli within the Bilbomath project, a collaboration between the City Council of Bilbao and BCAM.
The competition's primary aim is to promote mathematical and musical culture, and to foster the musical development of young pianists and violinists.
