Ixak Sarasua Antero, born in Aretxabaleta in 1999, is a highly curious individual whose academic path integrates physics, mathematics, language, and artificial intelligence. Growing up surrounded by science-related books and devices, coupled with his aptitude for these subjects at school, guided his decision to pursue university studies.
He chose to study Physics, believing it would provide him with the key to understanding the fundamental systems of the universe. However, upon completing his degree, he decided against a research career in physics, finding it too demanding. Instead, he pursued a master's degree in Mathematical Modeling and Research, Statistics, and Computation, realizing the broad applicability of data across various fields.

His master's program broadened his perspective, and he is now engaged in language technologies. His doctoral thesis focuses on adapting large language models (HEH) for low-resource languages and Basque. Despite challenges, he highlights the potential of this research area, noting the limited number of researchers in low-resource languages.
Sarasua views the distinction between sciences and humanities as artificial. He also has a passion for music, playing multiple instruments and participating in various bands. Furthermore, with university friends, he co-founded the website Asteroideiak to share learned knowledge in Basque informally.
Looking ahead, he has no plans to return to physics. While acknowledging the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, he is certain he will continue working with language and data, finding the Orai center to be an excellent place for his work.
