The events occurred around four in the morning in the festive area of the Kukullaga neighborhood, during the patron saint festivities of San Antonio in the Biscayan municipality of Etxebarri. A group of approximately 100 people began throwing glass bottles at the officers, injuring one police officer on the head.
The local police of Etxebarri initially arrested one person for assaulting a law enforcement agent. Subsequently, the Ertzaintza (Basque regional police) arrested another individual for the same offense following the aggression.
Due to the escalating violence, several patrols from the Ertzaintza's Mobile Brigade were required to control the situation. The Department of Security has condemned these actions and expressed its support for the injured officer and the police personnel involved.
