Getxo City Council will allocate over €7 million to the complete renovation of the grandstand building at the Fadura sports complex, doubling its size and adding new facilities.

The Getxo City Council will invest €7 million in the comprehensive renovation of the grandstand building located between the Fadura athletics track and rugby field. The works, expected to last approximately 22 months, will commence after the sports clubs' competition season concludes.
The current building's surface area will nearly double, expanding from 1,313 m2 to 2,742 m2. The project, designed through a participatory process, includes a new gymnasium, renovated changing rooms and storage areas, multi-purpose rooms, and office spaces for sports organizations. Additionally, a new roof will replace the existing one, designed to enhance user comfort during inclement weather.
To ensure accessibility, an elevator will be installed to connect the building's two floors. Differentiated entrances for athletes and the public will also be implemented, allowing access to the athletics track and rugby field via an internal corridor that will directly connect to the changing room area.
This project is part of the 'Thinking Fadura' initiative, aimed at transforming the Fadura outdoor area into a public sports park and modernizing its facilities. Coordinated planning with clubs and associations has been carried out to minimize the impact of the works on sports activities during the next two years.
