The port of Getxo is scheduled to receive the cruise ship Ambition on May 18th, despite the vessel currently being docked in Bordeaux following a norovirus outbreak.

A health alert was triggered after a passenger passed away and around fifty people showed symptoms of gastroenteritis. While the 1,700 passengers were initially confined, health authorities in New Aquitaine have since allowed asymptomatic individuals to disembark, while maintaining strict isolation for those infected.
The ship's medical staff is managing the situation under isolation measures, and a French health team has collected samples to identify the pathogen. Officials have explicitly stated there is no clinical link between this outbreak and recent hantavirus cases reported on other vessels.
The ship, which began its journey in the Shetland Islands and stopped in Belfast, Liverpool, and Brest, has cancelled its scheduled stop in Ferrol. However, sources from the Bilbao Port Authority confirm that the arrival at the Getxo terminal remains on the schedule.
