The head of the Basque Government attended the Bilbao Metropoli 30 assembly, where he underscored the association's contribution to strengthening the international projection of Bilbao and Euskadi.

The head of the Basque Government participated this morning in the Extraordinary Assembly of Bilbao Metropoli 30. During this meeting, the association presented the conclusions of its strategic reflection process “Bilbao Metropolitano 2050” and formalized the change in its presidency.
In his speech, the head of the Basque Government highlighted Bilbao Metropoli 30's contribution to the transformation of Bilbao and Euskadi over the past decades. He also thanked an association member for 35 years of dedication to Bilbao and Euskadi, demonstrating that dreams can come true.

"Through collaboration and courage, you succeeded."

He recalled that three decades ago, with an idea simple in its formulation but revolutionary in its transformation, Bilbao Metropoli 30 enabled Bilbao to “look back at the estuary to shape its future.”
Today, the head of the Basque Government concluded, the strategic reflection championed by Bilbao Metropoli 30 establishes clear coordinates: a competitive economy, a commitment to talent, sustainability, social cohesion, and democratic culture.

"I fully share these foundations and their European perspective. The metropolitan area of Bilbao, connected with the rest of the Basque Country's metropolitan areas, must drive us to form a large connected Basque metropolis, our Euskal Hiria, which can and must aspire to be the great urban, economic, and cultural reference of an Atlantic Arc that, in turn, must be a leading actor in strengthening Europe."
