EH Bildu denounces 'chaos' in Portugalete's municipal budget management, citing an economic imbalance that jeopardizes legal certainty.

The EH Bildu group in Portugalete has denounced the «chaos» in the management of the municipal budget, stating that it has led to an economic imbalance. According to the abertzale coalition, the municipal government, primarily composed of the PSE, has failed to consider technical reports and warnings issued during the initial budget processing.
The party has emphasized that the City Council has had to amend the economic memorandum, redo calculations, correct reports, incorporate new annexes, and acknowledge substantial modifications to the file. EH Bildu believes this clearly shows that «the initially approved Budget was not correctly prepared».
Last Thursday, the governing team received technical reports mandating modifications to the accounts, which amount to 69 million euros. «Money needs to be reduced because there is an economic imbalance, and the modification is necessary to avoid jeopardizing the legal certainty of the Budget,» explained socialist spokesperson Jon Pesquera to this newspaper on Friday.
The PNV also voiced its concerns that same day, and today it was the abertzale coalition's turn, denouncing the «chaos» in the management of the town's roadmap. EH Bildu states that this is not a consequence of an unforeseen event or solely a resident's objection, but rather a political decision by the municipal government not to heed technical reports or the warnings made during the initial budget processing.
