EH Bildu has presented a 30-action plan in Barakaldo to tackle migration and diversity, using the Basque language as a tool for minor cohesion.

EH Bildu has designed a 30-action plan in Barakaldo to address migration and cultural diversity, titled 'Txibirita'. Key measures include diversity training for municipal officials, establishing anti-racist protocols in festival committees, and utilizing the Basque language as a tool for minor cohesion.
The plan follows Barakaldo's III Intercultural Plan, approved in 2024, which the main opposition group claims «lacks clear commitments to address the population's needs and characteristics». After their initial 50+ proposals were not included, they have now developed this strategy based on «an analysis of current migratory flows and the most frequent problems faced by the newly arrived population». Party spokesperson María Solar criticized the current resource management as «increasingly chaotic and uncoordinated».

"For us, it is a fundamental principle that all people living in our country, all of them, deserve to live with dignity, they deserve to have all their rights guaranteed."

Diana Urrea · EH Bildu Member of Parliament
Diana Urrea, an EH Bildu Member of Parliament, emphasized that 'Txibirita' sets three main objectives: creating a plan with concrete proposals and popular movement collaboration, forming an internal group for its monitoring and improvement, and maintaining constant contact with local agents and collectives to identify real needs. She reaffirmed the party's commitment «in favor of the rights of migrants, refugees, and stateless persons, to ensure our community is a welcoming one».
