Barakaldo Local Police arrested a driver on Thursday who led a dangerous chase through several streets of the municipality, concluding with eight people suffering minor injuries and five vehicles involved in a series of collisions.

The incident began after a call reported a man in a parked car who was allegedly consuming [narcotics](https://www.deia.eus/tags/drogas/). When officers arrived to identify him, the driver started the vehicle and fled.
As reported by the City Council, the police attempted to stop him, but the man ignored their signals and sped away. During the pursuit, he drove recklessly through various streets of the municipality, endangering other road users.
The chase ended on Retuerto street, where the vehicle collided with five cars. As a result of the accident, eight people traveling in the affected cars sustained minor injuries and required medical attention.
After the final impact, the car was immobilized, allowing officers to intervene and arrest the driver. The detainee will be brought before the judicial authorities once the corresponding police proceedings are completed, as the alleged perpetrator of a road safety offense.
