Among the submitted ideas are requests to plant more trees, enhance street accessibility, and build paddle tennis courts at the El Fango sports center.
The budget allocated for neighborhood projects in Bilbao for 2027 will be 2 million euros. Regarding participant demographics, 62% of the ideas were submitted by women and 76.5% individually. The majority of proposals come from individuals aged between 41 and 65, followed by those aged 31 to 40.
Most proposals relate to public works (27.2%), followed by health and consumer affairs (22.48%), services (16.6%), and mobility (14.8%). In terms of districts, Begoña accounts for 20.5% of the proposals, followed by Ibaiondo (12.3%), Deusto (9.9%), and Rekalde (9.45%).
The children's council has submitted 23 ideas, with nine related to services, six to mobility, four to youth matters, and another four to public works.
Months remain before Bilbao residents can vote on which projects will be executed. Municipal departments will analyze each idea, prioritizing those that align with the city's needs and verifying their technical and economic viability. Each proposal must meet criteria such as being within the City Council's purview, of general interest, not exceeding 300,000 euros, and feasible within the next year.
The results of this analysis will determine the projects to be put to a vote by Bilbao residents. This voting phase will commence on September 21st and conclude on October 2nd. Residents registered in Bilbao aged 16 and over will be eligible to participate.
