The San Miguel festivities in Basauri will be held from September 26 to October 4, featuring an extensive program. Events will take place in various locations such as Ixatxak park, Taberna Nagusia, Alzaga taberna, Hernan Cortes plaza, Batzokia, Eguzki taberna, San Miguel church, the pilotaleku (pelota court), Social Antzokia, Bizkotxalde park, the Solobarria tent, and the Sofia Taramona school.
The festivities will kick off on Friday, September 25, with the Costume Day and an Elektrotxaranga. On Saturday, a Cycling March for the Javi Conde Paralympic Club has been organized, along with a gathering of 'cuadrillas' (groups of friends), a proclamation, and concerts featuring Los Zopilotes Txirriaos and Akerbeltz.
On Sunday, September 27, there will be a 3-a-side football tournament, a Basque pelota championship, Basque dances, and 'cuadrilla' Olympics. On Monday, the 'txu-txu' train, inflatables, hot chocolate, and a mus (card game) championship will be the main attractions.
From Tuesday onwards, workshops, an inflatable climbing wall, a frog-jumping competition, a parqués championship, and a mass will be held. On September 30, there will be street theater, inflatables, and flamenco performances.
During the first days of October, several gastronomic events have been organized, such as chorizo with cider, a popular sardine feast, and a communal paella. Additionally, there will be acrobatics demonstrations, concerts, and a darts championship.
The festivities will conclude on October 3 and 4 with a dessert competition, popular paella, concerts, marmitako and potato tortilla contests, and a final show.
Furthermore, the 54th edition of the Euskal Herriko Dantza Agerketa (Basque Dance Showcase) was also celebrated over the weekend. It featured dance groups such as Agintzari, Basauritar, and Edurre, alongside groups from Iekora, Berriz, Deba, Pamplona, and Luzaide.
Additionally, the Marienea Basauri Women's House organized an open day on September 17, presenting the new academic year's program and offering opportunities to enroll in various courses and workshops.
The winners of the poster contest for the San Fausto festivities have also been announced. Igone Aberasturi Ibarretxe won the main prize, and Eztizen Santamaria Ibarretxe received the local prize. In the youth and children's categories, Ariane and Aritz Canta Rodriguez were the winners.
