The operation, aimed at dismantling a criminal network distributing cocaine and hashish in the Basque Country, has broken up the group's operations center and leader, located in a residence in Getxo. However, the organization also maintained significant distribution points in Donostia and Bilbao, where they stored and distributed the substances.
A total of ten individuals have been arrested (eight men and two women, aged between 20 and 36). Additionally, over 35 kilos of hashish, nearly 4 kilos of cocaine, almost 5 kilos of marijuana, one kilo of methamphetamine, pills, and a handgun were seized.
Investigations began last January by the Ertzaintza's drug unit, which detected suspicious activity at a home in the Algorta neighborhood. The apartment allegedly functioned as a 'supermarket' frequented by dealers and significant buyers to acquire merchandise for smaller-scale distribution in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.
When the Ertzaintza's surveillance coincided with ongoing investigations by the Civil Guard and the National Police, the three forces coordinated a joint raid that commenced last Friday afternoon. Officers first intercepted a 35-year-old suspect leaving the main residence with 1.2 kilos of cocaine concealed under his clothing. Immediately after, the Berrozi rapid intervention unit and the Canine Unit entered the property, arresting the alleged leader (31 years old) and another associate.
The following day, the operation extended to other network locations with five searches: three in Getxo, one in Bilbao, and another in Donostia. In these apartments, used as storage in exchange for financial commissions, the remaining seven network members were arrested. According to the investigation, the individuals regularly traveled to Madrid and Valencia to acquire drugs and transport them to the Basque Country.
In addition to the narcotics and the firearm, officers found 15,081 euros in cash, scales, and cutting tools. A judge has already ordered the imprisonment of four of the ten detainees, while the rest have been released on bail with charges pending.
