The Arrigorriaga City Council has launched, for another year, the Eskola Agenda project, in collaboration with the Alkarbide collective. More than 800 copies will be distributed among children aged 6 to 11 in Primary Education. The initiative aims to facilitate students' personal organization and support daily communication between home and school in Basque. This year, Alkartxo will once again be the agenda's companion character, sharing stories and adventures with the children. The City Council explained that the agenda is an important pedagogical resource designed to educate in values and promote Basque culture. In addition to the distributed copies, others will be available at the municipal library, at the Zamakola school, and in some of the town's leisure centers.
Furthermore, the group Arrigorriagako Arrigokorrika has organized the first trail run of the season for September 20th. The event will cover 10 kilometers with a 400-meter positive elevation gain, passing through points such as Gaztelu, Iruaretxeta Park, Brisketako, and Malmasineko. The start will be at Mendikosolo Park at 09:30, with a lunch offered to participants at the end. Additionally, Arrigokorrika's running sessions will commence on September 15th, offering adapted training, a great team atmosphere, and support for both beginners and experienced runners.
Arrigorriaga's neighborhoods will also host celebrations. This Saturday, September 12th, the Kristo festivals will take place in the neighborhoods of Arandia, Kristo zeharkalea, Landarraga, Makua, and Padura. The day before, September 11th, there will be Mus arina, a football final, and the 'Kristo Miatzen' activity. On the festival day, there will be children's workshops, a neighborhood meal, street entertainment, competitions, rural sports, and music, among other attractions, presented by the charanga La Compe, the Kittu Taldea, and DJ Koldo.
The Ollargan festivals will also be celebrated from September 3rd to 6th. The Festival Committee and the City Council have prepared concerts, children's activities, games, and gastronomic competitions. The festivities will kick off with a txupinazo (firecracker), and during these days, there will be song contests, charangas, a costume contest, a popular dinner, and a live performance by Leticia Sabater, among other events. Sara and Criss Orube DJ and DJ Enimusic will also perform.
In the sports sector, the eighth edition of the Arrigorriagako Ausartak Mendi Lasterketa (Arrigorriaga Ausartak Mountain Race) has an official date: January 16th and 17th, 2027. Registration will open on October 1st. The seventh edition saw 824 participants, with 70% men and 30% women. Additionally, the Etxebarri X-Treme event is scheduled for December 6th.
In the industrial sector, Heidelberg Materials will hold an open information session on September 9th at 18:30 in the Edurne Garitazelaia Cultural Center. During this session, they will present to the public the strategic project for decarbonization and circular economy that they intend to develop at the plant located in Arrigorriaga, as well as the necessary modification to the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) of Arrigorriaga. These PGOU changes aim primarily to facilitate new installations for CO2 capture and management, and to enable a new electrical substation and specific service infrastructures.
