The fifth joint promotion of the Basque Police graduated from the Arkaute Academy, comprising 364 new Ertzainas and local police officers, reinforcing public security.

In a ceremony held in the central courtyard of the Arkaute Academy, 364 new Ertzainas and local police officers from the 5th joint promotion of the Basque Police received their diplomas and credentials. The event was attended by family, friends, and institutional, police, and union authorities.
The new officers are distributed as follows: 5 for citizen protection within the Ertzaintza, 135 specializing in Criminal Investigation, and 73 in Road Safety. Additionally, 151 local police positions have been filled across 29 Basque municipalities, including towns such as Amorebieta-Etxano, Basauri, Bilbao, Donostia / San Sebastián, and Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Representing the promotion, Eider Gómez Márquez spoke, emphasizing commitment to justice and social values. The chosen symbol for this promotion is the 'European ampelis'. The ceremony also held special significance for some families, with police officers who are parents and children present, symbolizing a generational handover.
Lehendakari Imanol Pradales highlighted the importance of entrusting security guarantees to a dedicated police force and praised the graduates' commitment, professionalism, and respect for the institution. 'This Government will always be by your side,' he stated.
The average age of this promotion is 30.4 years, with 64.5% men and 35.5% women. Furthermore, 87.9% hold a B2 level or higher in Basque. The new officers will now begin a 12-month practical training period in their respective posts, undergoing continuous evaluation before becoming fully qualified civil servants.
