Twelve schoolchildren evacuated from Loiu Airport on Saturday with gastroenteritis symptoms, following a study trip in Asturias, were diagnosed with food poisoning and have all been discharged.

While waiting to board a flight to Lanzarote, several of the minors, aged between 11 and 12, began to experience vomiting and dizziness. This prompted the activation of Osakidetza's emergency services, who transferred the children to Cruces and Basurto university hospitals for a more thorough evaluation.
The Basque Department of Health reported that several ambulances were dispatched to the airport, where healthcare teams conducted an initial on-site assessment and organized the care operation.
Half of the schoolchildren were treated at Cruces and the other half at Basurto. The latter were discharged around 8 PM on Saturday, and the six treated at Cruces were also released shortly after.
Pediatric emergency services determined that the condition was not viral but rather food poisoning, contracted after their stay in Asturias.
