The Zerain Town Council has approved a budget of 786,175 euros for 2026 with the votes in favor of EH Bildu, highlighting major investments in the Aizpea mining district and the construction of a shelter at the Ostatu bar.

The Zerain Town Council will have a budget of 786,175 euros for the year 2026. This decision was made at the plenary session held last March, with the four votes in favor from the EH Bildu councillors. The three councillors from the local candidacy Zerain Burujabe voted against the budget.
According to municipal officials, a significant portion of the budget, approximately 30%, will be allocated to personnel expenses, totaling 239,695 euros. Regarding other expenses, the council will spend 84,400 euros on commitments with local entities and other organizations, such as local associations, Uema, Udalbiltza, Eudel, Goieki, Goimen, and Tobera.
Additionally, another 43,500 euros will be used for various activities in the town, including funding for Euskarabetura, the ecological market, contributions to associations, and local festivals.
Concerning major investments, the council will have 200,700 euros in 2026. Several projects are already approved and underway, while others depend on the subsidies that may be received. Among the approved projects ready for execution, the recovery work for the Aizpea mining district and the warehouse used to store tools for the maintenance of the English cable stands out, with a total budget of 80,000 euros.
Another important project underway is the installation of a shelter outside the Ostatu bar, with the aim of making that area useful throughout the year, and it has a budget of 83,000 euros.
Among the projects dependent on subsidies, there are two significant interventions: firstly, the construction of a new health center in the Errementari building, which will be carried out in collaboration with Osakidetza. Secondly, the creation of a multi-purpose facility next to the fronton, which will serve as a space for children, youth, adults, and the elderly.
