The Txindoki Vertical Kilometer will be held on Saturday, starting from the Larraitz hermitage, with new organizers and a route change, offering a 2,000 euro prize to anyone who surpasses the historic mark set in 1993.

The Txindoki Vertical Kilometer race will take place on Saturday, starting at 10:00 AM. This event is part of the Euskal Herria Vertical Kilometer Cup and the Goierri Trail Cup, and already has over 230 registered runners.
This year's edition features new organizers, which has led to changes in the route. Furthermore, a special challenge has been set for the 2026 Txindoki Vertical Kilometer: a prize of 2,000 euros will be awarded to anyone who improves upon the time of 33 minutes and 34 seconds. This time was established in 1993, and since then, no one has managed to beat it.

"We are a nice group of eight young people who enjoy hiking in the mountains."

The organizers have indicated that many runners use this race as training for the Zegama-Aizkorri, which will be held the following Sunday, May 17. They believe that, as a 40-45 minute explosive exercise, it serves as good intense training.
The new organizing team has decided to start the race from the Larraitz hermitage, as they saw a disadvantage in the neutralized section of the previous route. At the awards ceremony, a night for two people at Hotel Ordizia will be raffled, and participation instructions can be found on the Txindoki Vertical Kilometer's Instagram account.
