The Beasain City Council and the Basque leisure association Hezten are collaborating once again to promote the 'Parketarrak' program, with the aim of strengthening the use of Basque in the streets, parks, and during leisure time. The main objective of this initiative is to offer children and families a pleasant and accessible space to play in Basque, promoting language habits in a natural and enjoyable way.
In this autumn edition, the sessions will take place on October 1, 8, 15, and 22, all in Iturralde park, starting from 4:45 PM. In case of bad weather, the activities will be moved to the sheltered area under Loinazko San Martin square.
Under the guidance of the facilitators from the Hezten association, the game sessions will be organized into two age groups and different programs: Zabu-Zibu (4:45 PM – 5:45 PM), aimed at children aged 3 to 5 and their families, and Txirrintxon (5:45 PM – 6:45 PM), for children aged 6 to 9.
The first session will encourage parental participation, offering resources to continue playing in Basque during domestic and outdoor leisure time. The second session aims to develop children's relationships in Basque and reinforce its use through group dynamics and collective games.
The Beasain City Council emphasizes that the health and future of our language are also at stake in the town's parks and streets. Year after year, the 'Parketarrak' project has been well-received, and it has become an excellent opportunity for children and adults to share enjoyable experiences in Basque together.
