The mayor of Legazpi has positively assessed the first year of the Goierri-Donostia bus line but has called for addressing reliability issues at Zumarraga transfers, which often leave passengers stranded en route to Donostia.

The mayor of Legazpi has given a “positive assessment” of the first year of the GO-07 bus line connecting Goierri with Donostia, after it registered over 365,000 journeys. However, he emphasized that “the success of the line must serve to immediately correct the reliability problems affecting residents of Legazpi”.
The mayor warned about the vulnerability of users who depend on transfers in Zumarraga, as delays in the journey between Legazpi and Zumarraga often result in “passengers being stranded,” because the bus to Donostia departs from Zumarraga without waiting for passengers from Legazpi.

"If we want citizens to trust public transport, we cannot allow a student or a worker to get lost in Zumarraga because the second bus does not wait."

He stated that this lack of synchronization creates a “lack of security that discourages the use of the service.” Therefore, he insisted that the “only definitive solution” to build trust is to strengthen direct connections from Legazpi. He added that it is necessary to increase frequencies and prevent users from depending on faulty combinations.
The mayor highlighted that, despite currently having only two departures and two returns per day, “the response from Legazpi is significant.” He cited an example of a group of users, based on information provided by the UPV/EHU Student Council: at least 48 students from Legazpi travel to the Ibaeta campus. To these must be added those going to other educational centers, those traveling to the capital for work, or for other errands. “These data demonstrate that Legazpi is not an appendix, but a real user base with clear room for growth,” provided that “we are offered a service that meets our needs.”
Finally, the mayor reiterated his “full willingness” to collaborate with the Mobility Department of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council to leverage the potential the line has already shown. He urged the competent administration to take “another step” and transform the GO-07 line into “a truly effective service for Legazpi, based on direct and reliable routes that do not depend on external factors from other stops”.
