Public transport fares in Gipuzkoa are set to change. The new proposal from the Provincial Council aims to reward those who make more than 30 trips per month by applying higher discounts to the highest usage brackets.
Conversely, the measure includes a price hike for occasional tickets for those without a Mugi card, rising from the current 1.95 euros to 2.25 euros. The first usage brackets will also see adjustments.
The plan introduces a fourth fare bracket for regular bus and train users. For over 51 trips, the discount will reach 98%, resulting in a cost of 0.09 euros per trip. The proposal, part of the 2026 budget agreement between PNV, PSE, and Elkarrekin Podemos, will be submitted to the Territorial Transport Authority of Gipuzkoa.
