No one is more loyal than an enemy; your hater watches you, seeks you out, and follows your steps. You possess something they envy. Be grateful for that; it's better to be envied than pitied.
Don't think the hater does it for free either. Hating is exhausting. However irrational their resentment, they must work at it daily to keep the flame of rancor alive. They might even envy what they don't desire for themselves but cannot stand their enemy possessing.
Or even more deliriously, they might harm themselves in the process of enacting their hate. The typical arrogance of 'so the captain goes down, I don't care'. It's the same attitude as Trump's haters, who seem to wish for him to mess up in Iran so the fierce ayatollahs win. Long live Betis, even if they lose. Don't overthink it, that's how we are.
But as every axiom has its paradox, a man's importance is measured by the number of his enemies. The more important you are, the more enemies you will have. No U.S. president has ever been as hated and cited as Trump. 'Let them talk about you, even if it's bad'.
A confessed Trump supporter like Clint Eastwood said that Trump's downfall was his mouth and Twitter, but he wasn't worse than any other leader or political figure. Not only is that true, I've seen worse closer to home, without crossing the pond.
Besides being a confessed Trump supporter, Clint Eastwood was a fantastic filmmaker and a brilliant guy. Depolarizing as we go. If there's a step from love to hate, I suppose there is from hate to love too. But what a step, man. Bigger than the Strait of Hormuz.
