The Official College of Nursing of Gipuzkoa (COEGI) celebrated International Nurses' Day in Donostia, paying tribute to veteran and recently retired professionals for their dedication to healthcare.

During the ceremony held last Tuesday, COEGI recognized 35 nurses with 25 years of professional experience and 64 newly retired professionals. This tribute aimed to express gratitude for “a lifetime dedicated to care and healthcare services.”
Representing the veteran and retired professionals, two nurses shared words of appreciation and recalled their journeys in the profession. The event also served as a platform to advocate for the creation of “safe spaces” for nursing practice and to improve working conditions within the sector.

"The increasing educational, scientific, and competency level of nursing must be reflected in decision-making, research, management, and professional recognition."

These recognitions align with COEGI's challenge to ensure “generational replacement.” The College President emphasized that the growing educational, scientific, and competency level of nursing should be reflected in decision-making, research, management, and professional recognition.
