The organization has accused the Beasain City Council of “creating obstacles for the dissemination of political demands”. The council, for its part, has stated that this decision is not political and is based on public ordinances approved in 2025. According to these, banners, posters, and similar items can only be placed in designated public areas authorized by the municipal authority.
Among the locations specified in the ordinance are the railing of Loinazko San Martin square facing Kale Nagusia, a row of the kiosk railing in Loinazko San Martin square, the railings perpendicular to the river near the Zaldizurreta roundabout, the bridge railing next to Gipuzkoa Plaza, the fence of the Loinatz football field facing Igartza Oleta street, the railing of the Ezkiaga neighborhood fronton, and authorized metallic municipal notice boards.
“"The visibility of these spots is very limited, and they are not effective for the majority of citizens to see the demands."
GKS has argued that the visibility of these designated areas is very limited and does not allow messages to reach the majority of the population. Furthermore, they have stated that the requirement to request municipal permission for placing banners “increases control over organized youth” and bureaucratizes the process, giving the council the power to “censor demands and limit freedom of expression”.
The organization has also criticized the “repression and social control” against workers, emphasizing that the “repressive function is clearly visible” through the cameras installed in the town. They noted that in March 2026, a budget of 49,864.94 euros was approved for the rental of six new cameras for four years. Therefore, they have requested that the council withdraw the imposed fines and the cameras in the municipality, and “not place limits on political activity in the streets”.
