One of the last summer festival days is the Olagarro Eguna, which will be celebrated in Zumaia this year on September 19th. As in previous years, the organizers have called upon local associations to assist in the festival's organization. Specifically, they will need help to work at the food stalls and at the popular meal to be held in the town square.
According to the Zumaia City Council, several work positions need to be filled on that day. For the tasks at the food stalls, 20 people per team will be needed on Friday, September 19th, to cut octopus and prepare skewers. On Saturday, the work will extend from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with 15-20 people required at each stall.
A team will also be needed to serve the popular meal. The main responsibility in this task will be to set up the necessary infrastructure and tools to serve the meal to 400 people, serve the food, collect tickets, and manage access to the tent. Afterwards, cleaning and tidying-up tasks will also be carried out, involving about 25 people. The coordination of assembly and disassembly work will be handled between the City Council and the managers of the popular meal and the food stalls.
Groups or associations interested in participating must meet certain requirements. These associations should work for the benefit of the town of Zumaia or its residents, without personal economic gain, and be involved in sports, culture, or social activities. Furthermore, members must be able to communicate in Basque, and those responsible for distributing drinks must be of legal age.
