The squares and streets of Iurreta will come alive with theater, humor, and outdoor performances in the coming days for the 20th anniversary of the Kalez Kale festival.

The squares and streets of the municipality of Iurreta will once again be filled with theater, humor, and outdoor performances for the 20th edition of the Kalez Kale festival. From June 18 to 21, the town will host a program comprising five stage proposals and a special inauguration to celebrate its twenty years of trajectory.
This anniversary is accompanied by a distinguishing feature within the Basque cultural scene. During the presentation, the mayor of Iurreta, Oskar Koka, recalled that it is the only festival that exclusively programs street theater companies from Euskal Herria, a uniqueness that has helped establish it as a benchmark in this cultural field.
The event will have an approximate budget of 19,000 euros this year and will maintain the spirit with which it was born two decades ago: bringing shows typically performed on conventional stages to the streets and making culture accessible to citizens.
The program will kick off on June 18 at 7:00 PM with the Herri Elkarteen Kalejira Ibiltaria, an initiative created specifically to commemorate the anniversary and involve local cultural, artistic, and festive associations. The proposal aims to reinforce the participatory, community, and inclusive character that has accompanied the festival since its inception.
Performances will continue on June 19 in Askondo, where Trakamatraka will present Matraka Culinary at 6:00 PM, followed by Zuanguango Teatro and El peor espectáculo del mundo de momento!! at 7:30 PM. The next day, also in Askondo, Ameztu Antzerkia will stage Kay Robot at 6:00 PM, while Goitibera will perform Eraitsi S.L. at 7:30 PM.
The grand finale will take place on June 21 at 1:30 PM in Dantzari, where Eriz Magoa will present a family show to close this special 20th-anniversary edition.
