The week features a range of activities, including an exhibition, a fair trade chocolate tasting, a documentary forum, and the traditional Derandein solidarity march.
This year's event will focus on our consumption habits and their connection to international cooperation, particularly within the textile sector. The aim is to highlight the importance of responsible consumption and promote actions such as reuse, repair, and recycling.
Sonia Cabezas, Councilor for Social Action, explained, "Cooperation is not just limited to development projects in other countries; it also invites us to examine our daily practices and understand the relationship between our consumption model and the realities of others".
The program will commence with an exhibition on cooperation projects and organizations supported by the City Council, open from September 28 to October 4 at the Zelaieta exhibition hall. Participating entities include Amanecer Solidario (ASOL), Derandein, EDUCAS, Euskal Fondoa, Kidenda, Munduaz Blai, and UNRWA.
Additionally, the library will host a reading corner until September 30, and on September 30, a fair trade chocolate tasting will be held in Zelaieta.
On October 1, Zelaieta will host the documentary forum "Ropa sucia" (Dirty Clothes), examining the impacts of fast fashion and labor conditions in the textile industry, followed by a discussion.
Rounding out the program are fair trade stalls by Kidenda and Munduaz Blai, a workshop on Western Sahara at the Gazte Txoko, and the Derandein mountain march and solidarity pintxo-pote on October 4.
