The San Marcos Fort in Errenteria has launched its summer schedule, remaining open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday until September 30.

Located in one of the most strategic points of the Oarsoaldea region, the fort offers visitors and tourists the chance to get up close with a key piece of the territory's historical and military heritage, as well as enjoy privileged views over the corridor connecting Donostia, Irun, and Hendaia.
Among the services offered are free guided tours, a proposal designed to share the fortification's history, its construction, and its evolution over time. During the tour, participants can also learn about the historical significance of the site and its role within the defensive systems that marked different periods of the territory's history.
In addition to explanations about the fortress itself, the tours provide context for the historical evolution of the Oarsoaldea valley through the panoramic views from the complex's viewpoint. The program also includes tours adapted for children, with content designed to introduce history and heritage to younger audiences in a didactic and engaging way.
Reservations for guided tours and information inquiries can be made at the San Marcos Fort information point, by calling 943 449 638, or via email at turismoa@errenteria.eus.
Those who prefer can also visit autonomously. The premises allow free exploration of the fort's various rooms and viewing reproductions of cannons and howitzers installed in the museum, as well as other spaces that are part of the historical complex.
One of the main attractions of the visit is access to the viewpoint, from which a large part of the Oarsoaldea surroundings can be seen, helping to understand the strategic importance San Marcos held in various historical episodes due to its privileged location.
The tour is completed with a room dedicated to the Aizpitarte caves, which gathers information about this notable archaeological site in Errenteria and also features a space specifically oriented towards children.
The facilities also include a tourist information point located next to the main entrance of the fort, where visitors can obtain information about the monument itself as well as other tourist resources in Oarsoaldea and Gipuzkoa.
With the arrival of the summer season, the San Marcos Fort once again solidifies its position as one of the region's main tourist and heritage attractions, combining history, nature, and cultural dissemination in a privileged setting.
