The fair attractions for the Sanjuanes festivities in Hernani will make a provisional return to the Milagrosa parking area. After years at the Karabel site, and following the fair operators' refusal to return there, the council and attraction representatives have agreed on this new location, where the fairs were previously situated before moving near the Zubipe parking.
The City Council stated that it has spent recent months exploring alternative locations, analyzing various spaces but encountering "significant difficulties". Karabel was initially the council's preferred option, with an offer to cover the costs of space usage and electricity supply. However, due to the fair operators' refusal and a lack of willingness to reach an agreement, proposing a new site became necessary.
The Hernani council has made "a considerable effort" to consider the Milagrosa parking lot as a "last resort" option. Although not initially the council's preferred choice, following technical studies and the consensus reached, the fair attractions will be located there provisionally.
The fair attractions will be open from June 23rd to 28th, with operating hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM during the Sanjuanes festivities. The setup of the attractions will necessitate the closure of the Milagrosa parking area to vehicles from June 21st to 29th.
To mitigate the impact of reduced parking in Milagrosa, new parking spaces will be established on Izpizua street, in the section extending from Txantxilla street to the municipal euskaltegi (Basque language school). Additionally, extra parking will be available in the Karabel neighborhood from June 22nd to 29th, with one lane of the access road to the area designated for parking.
To enhance inclusivity, music and lights will be turned off daily from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing individuals with sensory sensitivities, particularly children, to enjoy the attractions. Furthermore, June 28th will be designated as Children's Day, featuring extended hours from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a reduced ticket price of 1.5 euros per ride.
