Irura will celebrate its main festivities, the San Miguel festivities, from September 25 to October 4. The program includes numerous events, such as concerts, sports activities, gastronomic events, and cultural events, for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy.
The official opening will be on Friday, September 25, at 6:00 PM with the presentation of the festival scarf to children born in the year. This will be followed by the chupinazo (firecracker) and the descent of the dragon, accompanied by the parade of cabezudos (big-heads) and giants. In the afternoon, the semifinals of the VIII. San Migel Xare irekia tournament will be held in the trinquet, and in the evening, there will be a barrikote (barbecue) in San Miguel square with a performance by the group Gabezin.
On Saturday, September 26, the youth festival will take center stage in the morning, and there will be a children's park in the schoolyard. At noon, there will be a traditional dance (dantza-soka) and a children's lunch, as well as a lunch for young people. In the afternoon, there will be a musical street tour (poteo musikatua) with the electro-txaranga Zutik, and at night, concerts by the groups EH Sukarra and Olgetan in San Miguel Plaza.
On Sunday, September 27, there will be a gathering of Giant parades from Irura, Ibarra, Lezo, Lazkao, Noain, and Irurzun, and a street parade accompanied by the trikitilaris (Basque accordion players) from the Loatzo Music School. In the afternoon, the choir Onintza and the group Cant-arte from Olite will perform, followed by the show Haurreskolari by the group Tio Teronen Semeak. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to taste talos (Basque corn cakes) at the school's txosna (food stall).
On Monday, September 28, the show Artilusio by the group Markeliñe will be presented in the afternoon.
Tuesday, September 29, San Miguel's Day, will begin with the High Mass. Afterwards, there will be a farewell dance for the municipal corporation, followed by the award ceremony for the Irura Bizi Association's Photography Contest and a popular snack. In the afternoon, there will be wood choppers (aizkolaris) and stone lifters (harrijasotzailea), and in the evening, a bertso (Basque improvised singing) session in the church with Amets Arzallus, Oihana Iguaran, Aitor Mendiluze, and Maialen Lujanbio.
On Thursday, October 1, there will be a comedy show in the youth tent, with the participation of several comedians.
On Friday, October 2, Mozorro Eguna (Costume Day), will focus on Basque culture and festivals. In the morning, the finals of the I. 3x3 Multikirol txapelketa of Irura will be held. In the afternoon, there will be a cider tasting and the Play Back festival. At night, there will be live music performances in various locations, featuring groups like Talka taldea, DJ Piturrio, Mitoaroa IV, DJ Andoni, and DJ Lanbretta.
On Saturday, October 3, a women's hand-pelota match from Ados Pilota and the final of the VIII. San Migel Xare irekia tournament will be played in the trinquet. At noon, there will be a communal lunch in the square, and in the afternoon, bingo and dance music with DJ Bull. At night, the dragon will be burned and the group Akerbeltz will perform.
On Sunday, October 4, the festivities will begin with the High Mass. Afterwards, there will be lunch for retirees and pensioners, followed by an award ceremony and dance music with Joxe Mendizabal.
