An exceptional atmosphere was experienced yesterday afternoon in Lezo's Gurutze Santua Square, where the Escaldats group from Caldes de Montbui and the Euskal Herriko Castellers Taldea from Lezo presented a joint spectacle. The event showcased the strong connection between Catalan and Basque culture.
The event commenced at 17:30, with the groups entering the square to the sounds of grallas and drums. Both teams displayed their distinct shirt colors: the Escaldats group in green, and the Euskal Herriko Castellers Taldea, based in San Sebastián, in burgundy.
Both groups are composed of many individuals, and they worked together to build towers, combining their strength and symbolizing collaboration. The youngest members, children, ascended to the top of the towers with complete safety, and several towers were erected to the applause of the Lezo residents. Despite a few minor scares, the afternoon was exceptional, and attendees had the opportunity to learn about the world of 'castellers'.
The festivities will continue today and tomorrow in Lezo to bid farewell to the Santakrutz celebrations. Today, Saturday, there will be concerts with the groups Skabidean and Arene 6, and tomorrow, Sunday, various events are organized, including a romeria, a community dinner, and dance performances.
