Azkorte Romeria Returns to Lasarte-Oria, Keeping Tradition Alive

The town of Lasarte-Oria will host the Azkorte romeria this Sunday, an event aimed at preserving local customs and cultural heritage.

One of the most deeply rooted events in Lasarte-Oria's festive and traditional calendar, the Azkorte romeria, will return this Sunday with the main objective of keeping the municipality's popular traditions alive and transmitting cultural heritage to new generations.

The event has been organized by the Ttakun cultural association, with the collaboration of the Lasarte-Oria City Council. The organizers have indicated that this year the romeria will maintain its usual structure, with some minor adjustments to the schedule.
The day will begin at 10:30 AM with the opening of the tavern, where broth, cooked chorizo, and drinks will be offered. Fifteen minutes later, at 10:45 AM, trikitilaris will liven up the romeria, and at 12:15 PM, it will be the turn of rural sports, with the participation of stone lifters and log choppers. Subsequently, at 1:15 PM, a mass will be held with the collaboration of the Alboka choir, and the tavern is scheduled to close at 2:30 PM.

A representative from Ttakun explained that the main purpose of the romeria is to continue transmitting this custom to all citizens, especially young people, maintaining a formula that has been well received in previous years. Both parties highlighted the value of the Azkorte romeria in the town's cultural heritage, not only as a festive celebration but also as a meeting point and space for intergenerational transmission.
According to the City Council, collaboration with the Ttakun cultural association is fundamental to keeping the municipality's customs and traditions alive. Thus, the Azkorte romeria, for another year, will combine the collective memory and festive tradition of the town through music, rural sports, and a popular atmosphere.
