Usurbil's City Council and festival committee are inviting residents to submit proposals for the chupinazo and participate in the festival program design contest until May 19th.

The process to decide who will launch the firecracker to kick off Usurbil's festivities has begun again. Citizens can directly participate by proposing candidates, as the festival committee has established two methods: telematically, by writing to kultura@usurbil.eus, or in person, by depositing proposals in designated boxes at municipal facilities (City Hall, library, sports center, and Potxonea). Proposals must include the reason for the nomination.
This year's call also includes a contest to design the festival program. The deadline for submitting creative works is also May 19th. Participants can request the contest rules at the town hall's reception or find more information at kultura@usurbil.eus or on the website usurbilkultura.eus. The winning design will receive a prize of 600 euros, an increase from last year's 500 euros.
The winning design must be presented in both Basque and bilingual versions, with the Basque text being prominent. Submissions must be original and unpublished, and include the city council's logo. Entries should be submitted digitally and in print, divided into two envelopes: one with the author's details and the other with the design.
The jury will consider the printing cost of the work when selecting the winner, ensuring it aligns with the allocated budget. Furthermore, the use of non-sexist language and imagery is required, in compliance with laws on equality and life free from gender-based violence. The exploitation rights of the selected design will be transferred to the Usurbil City Council.
