The Tolosa City Council has approved a proposal to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the abolition of the Fueros and the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Mayors' Movement.

The initiative, supported by EH Bildu and EAJ-PNV, aims to uphold the identity and historical rights of Euskal Herria. The approved text emphasizes the crucial role of municipalities as the closest expression of the public's democratic will.
During the session, the PSE-EE voted against the motion, arguing that it overlooks the benefits of the current political framework. Meanwhile, the supporting groups advocated for greater sovereignty and self-government, noting that the Gernika Statute remains unfulfilled.
With this decision, the council formally joins the political-institutional event scheduled for this Sunday in Bergara, reaffirming its commitment to the right of the Basque people to decide their political future.
