The Bergara City Council has initiated the procedures for the San Martín Fair, scheduled for September 14th in Oxirondo Plaza. The event will feature 46 stalls for selling food products such as vegetables, fruits, cheese, bread, preserves, and charcuterie, along with two stalls for ornamental plants. The fair will also host contests for vegetables, fruits, and cheeses.
A new feature this year is that the vegetable and fruit contests will award a trophy instead of cash prizes. The funds allocated for prizes will be distributed as daily allowances among all participants. According to the council, the aim is to recognize the work and quality of local producers' products.
Producers interested in securing a stall must submit their application between June 24th and July 9th, using the form available on the municipal website (www.bergara.eus). Priority will be given to producers from Bergara and the Debagoiena region, as well as those who practice organic production.
Additionally, non-profit organizations can apply to operate the food stand for tasting the local 'morcilla' (blood sausage). They will offer sausages donated by local butchers, with a maximum price of 3 euros per portion including a drink, or 1.5 euros for the drink alone. The deadline for submitting these applications is also July 9th, via the municipal website.
