The women of Arrasate Rugby Taldea have taken a significant step towards the grand final scheduled for May 30th. After achieving victory this past weekend in the quarter-final match played in Elorrio, the team qualifies for the semi-finals. The combined team Geurea RT, formed with Urgozo and Elorrio, faced Durango at San Roke stadium, winning with a final score of 37-5 after dominating the second half.
Joseba Zabala's team will compete in the semi-finals next weekend, where they will face the winner of the match between Gipuzkoa Sortzen and La Unica. The potential opponent in the grand final will be Gaztedi, the team that finished the league in first place.
The start of the match was not easy for Geurea RT, with the first half being quite even. However, a try by Aiora Agirregomezkorta in the 20th minute broke the deadlock. The home team's joy was short-lived, as Durango responded a minute later, leveling the score at 5-5. With 10 minutes left before halftime, Garazi Berrio-Otxoa scored the second try for the home team, heading into the break with a 10-5 lead.
The second half was much more comfortable for the Basque combined team. By the fifth minute, a try by Naia Goiriena extended the home team's advantage (15-5). From that point on, Durango's performance declined, making the path much easier for the home side. In a 20-minute span, Zabala's players scored four more tries, effectively deciding the match (37-5) with five minutes remaining. Two of these tries were scored by Garazi Berrio-Otxoa, and the other two came from Jone Ugaldea and Haizea Zabala.
