The Laboratorium Museoa and Jakindari organizations, in collaboration with the Department of Science, Universities and Innovation of the Basque Government, have organized a traveling scientific outreach program about the solar eclipse in Bergara, running from May to July.

In anticipation of the solar eclipse visible in Debagoiena on August 12, the Laboratorium Museoa and Jakindari organizations, together with the Department of Science, Universities and Innovation of the Basque Government, have launched a science outreach program. This initiative is part of the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) program.
In Bergara, six activities have been organized from May to July with the aim of bringing this astronomical phenomenon closer to the public. The first event began today with an exhibition titled Bi ilunabarren eguna (The Day of Two Sunsets). This exhibition, featuring scientific illustrations, offers a didactic and visually engaging approach to the total solar eclipse.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge in the museum garden until May 21. Several schools will conduct organized visits during morning hours. Adults will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition through guided tours on May 16 and 18. The Saturday visit, at 11:30 AM, will be offered alongside an outreach workshop aimed at the general public and families. The Monday visit, meanwhile, has been organized to coincide with International Museum Day, at the same time. Registration is free, but prior registration is required.
Following the exhibition, two lectures will be held. On June 11, a Postdoctoral Researcher from DIPC will give a talk titled Eclipses and Inventions, with the support of the Kutxa Foundation. On July 3, a member of the Ilartargi Association will present a lecture titled Eclipses: Astros Playing Hide-and-Seek. Both lectures will take place at the Seminarixo, in Basque and free of charge, until full capacity is reached.

"We are facing an extraordinary astronomical event, and we want the citizens of Bergara to have the opportunity to experience this phenomenon properly."

Director of Laboratorium Museoa
With this program, Bergara aims to strengthen its role in scientific dissemination, providing citizens with tools to better understand the phenomenon of eclipses. The director of the Laboratorium Museoa emphasized the importance of collaborating with organizations like Jakindari to expand the reach of activities and ensure that science is accessible and shared.
