Lezo's Ixone Lorenzo wins Gipuzkoa youth aurresku championship

15 dancers participated in the championship held in Legazpi, with Lorenzo being chosen as the winner by the jury.

Ixone Lorenzo Bergara from Lezo has won the Gipuzkoa Youth Aurresku Championship, in the eighth edition held in Legazpi with the participation of 15 dancers.

In the competition organized by the Legazpi City Council and Sustraiak Dance Group, 15 boys and girls took part. In the first phase, all dancers performed Graziana and Desafioa or Aurkez Aurkez to the tunes of the Goiz Deia txistu band. The six dancers who achieved the highest score danced the Legazpi Zortzikoa in the final round.
The jury, composed of members from the Gipuzkoa Basque Dancers' Association (Idoia Besada, Jose Luis Vallejo, and Nagore Indakoetxea), made the decision in favor of Ixone Lorenzo Bergara from Lezo. Meanwhile, Isabel Aztiria and Maria Luisa Mendizabal awarded the prize for the most elegant costume to Nora Escudero Mujika from Legazpi.

The champion received a sculpture and a captain's staff designed by the Legazpi artist Juan Mari Burgaura. Her teacher Ihintza Erauskin also received a souvenir.

The top six classified dancers received a trophy, and all participants received a souvenir. The new champion danced the Agurra to conclude the event. June Osinalde Mendiola was the first Legazpi dancer, and Nora Escudero Mujika received the award for the most elegant costume.
Other participants from Legazpi, such as Alaitz Agirre Arruebarrena, Araitz Berasategi Armendariz, and Jon Alberdi Garde, also took part in the championship. The organizers highlighted that the five members of the Sustraiak dance group performed "excellent work" and clearly "finished the academic year very well".
The organizers have expressed their gratitude to the city council, the Goiz Deia txistu band, and the Gipuzkoa Basque Dancers' Association, as well as to the dancers, teachers, and parents, for their support in making the championship possible.
