The American bluesman will be the main attraction at the Arrasate Blues festival this Saturday, at Herriko Plaza, starting at 10:30 PM. This will be his only concert in the Basque Country as part of his 'Back to the Roots' European tour.
The eighth edition of Arrasate Blues brings together renowned national and international artists. Organized by Ibai Arte, the Arrasate merchants' association, the festival features fifteen free street concerts for all audiences.
The day's lineup also includes the project by Gonzalo Portugal, accompanied by bassist Mikel Azkargorta and the powerful vocals of Inés Goñi (Mississippi Queen) and Noa (Noa & The Hell Drinkers), both well-loved by the public.
The first performance on Saturday, at 1:00 PM in Portaloia, will feature Bluehat Band, a quartet from Irún blending blues with contemporary sounds. At 6:30 PM, the new project from Bizkaia, Crazy Jumpers, will take the stage. The night will conclude with jam sessions by Bluexei at Aterpe from midnight.
Another highlight of this edition will be the 'Conversation of Two Pianos,' a unique encounter between Paul San Martín and Lluís Coloma, two absolute references in piano blues and boogie. The performance is on Sunday at 1:00 PM in the small square of the Hotel Mondragon.
Local talent continues to shine, including the contemporary soul and funk proposal by Angry Lovers, led by the voice of Mónica Durán from Arrasate, on Sunday at 7:00 PM at Otalora Lizentziaduna. The band Bluexei, formed by local musicians, is also integral to the festival's identity.
As the festival promoters emphasize, "Arrasate Blues is a music event with a 'km 0' vocation. It aims to be a meeting point for blues music fans in all its variations, as well as attracting those who wish to enjoy a weekend of culture and gastronomy."
