This new initiative seeks to adapt to new consumption habits by offering a convenient and accessible alternative for picking up purchases, while strengthening the competitiveness of local businesses. Local Economy and Employment councilor, Jaime Bengoa, emphasizes the project's clear mission: "To support and strengthen small local businesses and our producers," removing the limitations of opening hours.
The new facility, located at the entrance to the market, features 36 compartments in three different sizes (small, medium, and large) to accommodate all types of products. The service will be exclusively for local small merchants and market producers and vendors.
The system is designed for simplicity: after a purchase, the merchant places the order in a locker and enters the customer's contact details. The buyer receives a QR code via WhatsApp or email, which, when scanned at the locker, opens the compartment automatically. The maximum collection period is 72 hours.
The City Council has presented the system to local merchants and producers, and its implementation will be gradual. In the coming weeks, more establishments will join, and informational materials will be distributed to raise customer awareness.
