Well-being Plaza arrives in Elgoibar for two days

The initiative organized by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will address healthy aging, nutrition, digital well-being, and more.

Elgoibar will host the Well-being Plaza on September 10th and 11th. This event, organized by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, will cover topics such as healthy aging, nutrition, and digital well-being.

Elgoibar will be the next stop for the Well-being Plaza initiative, organized by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, on September 10th (Thursday) and 11th (Friday). After visiting Legazpi, Hernani, Pasaia, Deba, Donostia, and Hondarribia, this town will offer its citizens the opportunity to work on well-being from multiple perspectives.
The event will address topics such as healthy aging and nutrition, digital well-being, physical exercise, unwanted loneliness, responsible screen use, and women's health. Furthermore, the influence of creativity and industry on well-being will be explored at the event held in Kalegoen square.
The Deputy General, Eider Mendoza, emphasized that through these activities, the integral well-being of individuals is intended to be placed "at the center of the plaza," being a "top priority" for the Provincial Council. "It is essential to address all these issues in an open, shared, and participatory manner," she added, inviting all Elgoibar residents to participate.
On September 10th, Thursday, the program will kick off with Adinberri. In the morning, there will be an open physical exercise session, a cognitive stimulation workshop, and mindfulness therapy. Following this, agroecology expert Jakoba Errekondo will explain the keys to responsible and sustainable nutrition, alongside three young farmers. In the afternoon, starting at 17:30, a discussion will be held between newcomers and locals on language, identity, and coexistence. To conclude the day, humorist Idoia Torregarai will lead a workshop on emotional well-being through laughter and humor.
On September 11th, Friday, the focus will be on youth well-being. In the morning, a discussion will address topics such as social media addiction, loss of social skills, and the choice of suicide, as well as the effects of hyperconnection. Subsequently, considering the history and influence of machine tools in Elgoibar, the contribution of industry to the town, the impact of the evolution of the world of work on well-being, and future challenges will be analyzed with professionals from the sector.
In the afternoon, the program will be divided into three parts. Firstly, from 17:00 onwards, together with the association Altxa Burua, a dynamic session titled 'In the era of screens, healthy use' will be held, aimed particularly at parents to promote responsible and healthy use of mobile phones and digital technologies. Secondly, from 18:30 to 19:30, a session will reflect on the impact of creativity on well-being with local creators from various disciplines. Finally, the two-day meeting will conclude with a tasting of cheese from Mausitxa and cider from Lizaga.
