According to the Ertzaintza (Basque police), the incident occurred at kilometer marker 47, in Deba, around 1:45 PM. The road remains closed in both directions as a crane is operating to remove the crashed vehicle.
Separately, on the A-15 highway at kilometer marker 152, near Villabona and heading towards Pamplona, traffic was halted past 4:30 PM after a vehicle began emitting smoke inside a tunnel.
The car has since been removed from the roadway and the N-I to A-15 junction has been reopened, although traffic jams still persist in the area, gradually decreasing.
