The Coliseo Theater in Eibar will host the performance of Escape Room, a Basque comedy produced by Txalo Teatroa, on Saturday, May 9th, at 7:00 PM. The play, written by Joel Joan and Héctor Claramunt, brings to the stage a story that mixes tension, humor, and fear through an apparently innocent game.
The cast features four actors: Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga, Nerea Gorriti, Iñigo Aranburu, and Oihana Maritorena, under the direction of Begoña Bilbao Lejarzegi. The play has an approximate duration of 90 minutes. The presence of local actress Nerea Gorriti adds a special touch to this event in Eibar.
The plot begins when two lifelong couples decide to go to an escape room for fun and to test their intelligence. What starts as a leisure activity soon transforms into an unsettling situation, marked by distrust, secrets, and time pressure. The production combines entertainment, suspense, and contemporary comedy.
Escape Room is presented as a comedy of fear, playing with the codes of thriller, intrigue, and black humor. However, its scenic structure is designed to provoke laughter through the characters' reactions, their contradictions, and the cracks that appear in an apparently solid friendship. In this confined space, the protagonists are forced to confront not only the game's enigmas but also truths hidden for years.
The cast includes figures well-known to the Basque audience. Zuhaitz Gurrutxaga, originally from Elgoibar, is popular for his career as a former Real Sociedad footballer and his subsequent path as a presenter, comedian, and actor. Nerea Gorriti, on the other hand, provides a direct link to Eibar and a career in stage performance, sharing the spotlight with Iñigo Aranburu and Oihana Maritorena.
