Deba will host a new edition of its 'Iturri Ondoan' cultural program in July, featuring five performances in the Plaza Vieja dedicated to artistic creation in Basque.

Deba's Plaza Vieja will be filled with cultural activities in July thanks to the 'Iturri Ondoan' initiative. The City Council has announced that this project focuses on "artistic creation born from and in Basque," offering an opportunity to enjoy open-air culture.
This year's program will take place every Friday in July, with the exception of Thursday, July 30. Mayor Alazne Txurruka emphasized that the initiative "reflects the soul of our town: a vibrant culture created from and in Basque," and serves as "a way to strengthen Deba's Basque identity and bring citizens together around art."
Next month, five different performances will be presented, all held next to the fountain in the Plaza Vieja, starting at 10:00 PM. The first, on July 3, will be the show 'ZaharrakBerri' by the group Arineketan, blending music, dance, and bertsolaritza.
On July 10, there will be a bertso session featuring bertsolaris Maialen Lujanbio, Andoni Egaña, Nerea Elustondo, and Agin Laburu. Following this, on July 17, the 'Begiradak' performance will showcase local talent and Basque creation, combining literature, visuals, and music.
The program will conclude with theater and music. On July 24, the humorous play 'Jo!' by Anduriña Zurutuza and Beatriz Egizabal will be performed. Finally, on July 30, a concert by young artist ØDEI will close the cycle, mixing styles such as boom bap, trap, and drill.
The Deba City Council encourages residents to attend the events, highlighting them as an excellent opportunity to strengthen the community and keep the Basque character of the town alive.
