The Popular Party of Aiaraldea has demanded increased frequency and better management of waste and paper/cardboard collection in the region, calling for an urgent solution to the constant dirt and odor problems faced by residents.

The Popular Party of Aiaraldea has demanded increased frequency and better management of waste and paper/cardboard collection in the region, calling for an urgent solution to the constant dirt and odor problems faced by residents. The party stated that the situation is turning the streets of Llodio and Amurrio, as well as other areas in the region, into veritable landfills.
The collection of organic and domestic waste, managed by the Aiaraldea Mancomunidad presided over by the PNV, is not being handled properly. "Residents are fed up with the dirt and the image of their streets, with overflowing bins and excessive accumulation of trash bags around them," stated Montse Canive, PP spokesperson in the Ayala Valley.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Council of Álava, responsible for paper and cardboard collection, "continues to fail to resolve the issue, offering a terrible service to citizens." According to Guillermo Sáez Viana, PP representative, "trucks empty the bins and staff collect cardboard from the ground to put it back in the bin, which then fills up again." In response, Sáez Viana has urged the PNV, both in the Provincial Council and the Mancomunidad, to manage the service correctly "as soon as possible."
Sáez Viana recalled that "the accumulation of waste and cardboard can lead to pest proliferation and pose risks to pedestrians and traffic, due to cardboard being displaced by the wind." Therefore, the PP representative emphasized that "the PNV is not managing the waste collection service well and must provide a solution to this daily problem in the streets of the Aiaraldea district, as it is shameful."
