The Ertzaintza arrested a 20-year-old man in Llodio on Thursday, accused of violent robbery and causing injuries to an elderly couple in the Areeta neighborhood of Getxo on July 7th.

The incident occurred when two men approached a couple, aged 71 and 76, and attempted to steal the necklace the woman was wearing. According to the Ertzaintza, the couple tried to prevent the theft, at which point the robbers pushed them to the ground. The two youths eventually fled without succeeding in their attempt.
Health services transported the victims to Urduliz hospital, where the woman had to undergo surgery on her knee.
As a result of the investigation, the police arrested one of the youths yesterday in Llodio. The detainee has a police record and has been arrested twice before for property-related offenses. This time, he faces charges of robbery with violence and causing injuries.
Sources from the Ertzaintza press office stated that, after appearing in court, the young man is now in prison. The other individual involved, aged 19, was already in jail and has therefore had proceedings opened against him as a suspect for the same offenses.
