The Ayala City Council has reported that firefighting teams are still working to fully secure the area. Today, a helicopter will be operating in the vicinity, which requires the Artziniega swimming pools to remain closed for another day to allow for water collection. Residents will be able to use the Ayala municipal pools in the meantime.
The Llanteno Administrative Board has reiterated that access to the surrounding mountains is prohibited. According to the local authority, the presence of people in the area hinders the workers' tasks, even though the fire appears to be calmer.
Once the fire is completely extinguished, the Provincial Council of Álava will investigate its origin. Initial statements suggest that the fire was caused by human activity, although it remains to be determined whether it was intentional or accidental.
