At the institutional event, mayors from Laudio, Amurrio, Legutio, and Asparrena were present, among others. The gathering recalled the municipal representatives who met in Bergara on July 21, 1976, at the end of Franco's regime, to commemorate the centenary of the abolition of the Fueros and renew the call for self-government.
Today's event shares the same objective, 50 years later. Representatives from the PNV and EH Bildu have reiterated their commitment to renewing self-government and decision-making, and the Basque territories have claimed their historical rights.
