The Basque Government's Department of Industry has issued the preliminary administrative authorization for a solar park project in Ayala, which involves the installation of 10,500 solar panels.

According to the resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV), the developer has a 15-month period to request the construction permit. The project, which has a capacity of 6 megawatts and an estimated budget of 4.1 million euros, faces opposition from the Ayala City Council.
The facility must incorporate all protective and corrective measures specified in the project's environmental report, including the construction of an underground evacuation line.
Meanwhile, the department has denied authorization for the Kastillo wind farm project, planned across the municipalities of Otxandio, Ubide, and Legutio. This project aimed to install four wind turbines with a total investment of 20.5 million euros.
The decision is based on an unfavorable environmental impact statement. Technical reports confirmed that the proposed location is highly sensitive due to the presence of protected bird species.
