The construction of 64 official protection rental homes promoted by Visesa in the Goikoplaza neighborhood of Llodio has officially begun. The ceremony was attended by Denis Itxaso, Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda for the Basque Government, and Ainize Gastaka, the mayor of Llodio, among other representatives.
Today's featured development involves the construction of 64 official protection rental homes, which will be managed by Alokabide upon completion. This project represents an investment of approximately 9.5 million euros and is part of a larger strategy to add 93 new protected rental homes in Goikoplaza by early 2029.

"Today we are not just laying the first stone of a building, but the foundations of a public policy that seeks to guarantee access to housing for those who face the greatest difficulties in becoming independent or developing their life project."

Denis Itxaso · Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda of the Basque Government
Mayor Ainize Gastaka emphasized the importance of utilizing all available institutional tools to address the housing emergency, highlighting her municipality's commitment through measures like fiscal incentives for empty homes and land cession.
The homes will be housed in a building with two basement levels, a ground floor, and eight upper floors. The development will include 16 one-bedroom units, 43 two-bedroom units (three adapted for reduced mobility), and 5 three-bedroom units. The construction will feature industrialized solutions and renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic panels.
According to Etxebide data, Llodio has 873 households seeking protected housing, with 82.7% opting for rental. The planned 93 homes are expected to cater to 20% of applicants, particularly young people.
The income requirements for these homes range between 9,000 and 46,463.29 euros annually. Young individuals represent a significant portion of the demand, and a commitment has been reiterated to create more accessible housing for them.
Additionally, another 29 official protection rental homes will be built at Goikoplaza kalea 10. Construction is slated to begin in 2027 and conclude in the spring of 2029, with an investment of 4.6 million euros.
